Frequently Asked Questions
We get questions. You get answers. This Q&A might answer your questions, but if not, you can always contact us.
How did you find all these books?
Research. We scan dozens of bookseller and publisher sites every week, looking for new books or updates to old ones. As we find new information we add it to our site, so you can have the latest on everything in one place.
Why don’t you have this book?
Even with all our searching we can’t find everything. Some publishers aren’t as careful with their metadata as they should be, and we have to piece things together. Sometimes we just make mistakes. Independent authors are the hardest to find, and books from long ago may not even exist online. You can submit a book to us anytime, and we’ll update it as soon as we can.
But it’s a current popular book, how did you miss it?
There are many books we don’t consider cozy, even if the publisher or author has branded them that way. We try to err on the side of inclusiveness, but there’s many a book pretending to be cozy just for the sales. Take a look at our discussion of The Maid for an example of what we think about when we’re considering if a book is cozy or not.
This book isn’t cozy!
Sometimes we include a book that might not truly be cozy. We can be tricked too! We’re sorry for the inconvenience, and if you submit it to us we’ll take a look and see if it should be removed.
Have you read all of these books?
We have well over twenty thousand books on the site. We could only wish to have read that many! We have probably read a few hundred of them, but the rest make for a giant and ever-growing TBR pile.
Why did you link to this version of the book?
For most people either the paperback or ebook is what they’re interested in, and we try to link to one of those when we can. Sometimes such a book doesn’t exist, and we link to what we can find. This may include resellers, although we try to avoid them unless it’s the only choice. In most cases you can choose your preferred version when you get to a site.
Can I submit a book for you to add?
Absolutely, and thank you! We are here to promote authors. Author name and book title are helpful, as is a link to a major bookseller or publisher site. Just drop it into our contact form and we’ll add it to the site.
Do you take advertising?
We haven’t yet begun to accept advertising. We do want to promote authors, so please let us help you to promote your book. If you fill out our book promotion form we will let you know what we can do for you.
Do you do giveaways?
We sure do. All our giveaways run through our newsletter, so subscribe and you might get something for free!
I found an error!
We have a lot of books on the site, so there’s bound to be some errors. Please let us know what it is through the contact form and we’ll fix it as soon as we can.
How do I contact you?
We have a contact form you can fill out, or you can email us directly. We’ll respond if we think you need an answer.
Can I make a suggestion?
Please do! We can’t guarantee we’ll do it, but we always listen. Just fill out the contact form.
How do you decide if a book is cozy?
There’s a string of factors which make a book cozy. We’ve written several articles on it, and they describe the process we follow. Look under the Articles dropdown at the top. It’s not perfect, but it’s about as good as we can do without reading every book. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we’ll even give you a free copy of the cheatsheet we use.
How do I keep up with all these new books?
There are so many new cozies released, it’s hard to keep up. We have 3,600 cozies listed just from 2021, which is almost ten a day! To help sort them all out, we have a page which shows new books released by month, or even easier, sign up for our newsletter which includes a list of new books each week.
I have an idea for an article you should write.
Great! We’re always looking for new ideas. We don’t pay for them, but if it’s something we haven’t already thought of we may give you a credit if we write the article. Just let us know through the Contact page.
Will you publish my cozy mystery?
We’re not publishers, so no. There is plenty of info on the internet on how to find an agent or publisher, or how to self-publish. Good luck, and if you do get published, make sure to let us know so we can help you promote your book!
Will you pay me to write an article for you?
We do not accept articles and we do not pay people to write for us at this time. If that policy changes we will let people know through our newsletter, so make sure to subscribe.
